SSSHAKE Talks: Sustainability in the Fashion Industry

  • Arboretum 2A Charing Cross Road London, England, WC2H 0HF United Kingdom (map)

We are thrilled to introduce a new edition of our SSSHAKE Talks. For this 5th edition, we are inviting inspiring founders of sustainable fashion brands to discuss the future of the fashion industry as well as the challenges and complexity of building a sustainable brand.

☐ Maria Fares Taï, Founder & CEO of MAARÏ . Eco Swimwear

Maria is an ethical entrepreneur whose first love was and still is the ocean. After a career in private aviation and luxury fashion, she decided to create MAARÏ Eco Swim, a brand with sustainability at its core. Her passion for all things ethical led her to also work as a brand consultant and freelancer in digital marketing and content creation for ethical businesses.

☐ Priya Jangda, Founder of Quillattire

After graduating from London College Of Fashion, Priya took inspiration from her personal experiences as a young, Indian woman and recently launched Quillattire, a sustainable streetwear brand under the motto 'I am who I am. Your Approval is not needed.' The brand which features loud and retro fits with references to 80s gaming and the proud Quillattire label emblazoned on each garment in Japanese, English and Hindi, has already shown during London Fashion Week, and recently won ASOS’s Homepage Competition.

☐ Hannah Kromminga, Founder of Silfir

Hannah started her research on sustainable fashion in October 2016 after she noticed how her group of friends were frustrated by the experience of purchasing fashion responsibly. It seemed like there was no hassle-free way to purchase clothes without contradicting their values. With this in mind, she founded Siflir in an effort to incentivise customers to keep clothing for longer and buy less. Silfir is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to bring to life a new garment that’s simple, chic and sustainable: the Soft Workwear Uniform.

The talk will be followed by relaxed networking and sweet tunes.
